Now you can renew your registration electronically online or by phone.
To renew electronically, all of the following must be true:
- The vehicle is currently registered in Kansas.
- You have a Kansas Motor Vehicle registration renewal notice that contains a Personal
Identification Number (PIN).
- Your address on the renewal notice is current.
- The vehicle is currently insured by a participating insurance company.
- You have a valid VISA, MasterCard, American Express, or Discover Card (debit cards
are not accepted).
The following plate types cannot be renewed electronically:
- Children's Trust Fund
- Education Instituation
- Ex-Prisoner of War
- National Guard
- Pearl Harbor Survivor
- Shriners
- Disabled, Disabled Veteran and Personalized Disabled during a re-certification year.
To renew your tags online, follow these instructions:
- Go to www.kswebtags.org
- Locate the PIN number on your renewal notice for the vehicle.
- Follow the screen instructions to complete your transaction.
To renew your tags by phone, follow these instructions:
- Dial toll-free 1-866-4kstags (457-8247)
- Locate the PIN number on your renewal notice for the vehicle that you wish to renew.
- Follow the voice instructions to complete your transaction.
When you complete your transaction, your receipt, decal and/or license plate will
be mailed within ten days from your local County Treasurer's Motor Vehicle Office.
Motor vrhicles cannot be legally operated without a current decal and/or plate.
Please allow sufficient time when renewing electronically to ensure your registration
does not expire.
If using E-Tags, payment is made by utilizing a VISA, MASTERCARD, DISCOVER or AMERICAN
EXPRESS card. The credit card processor charges a convenience fee for use of this
service.
